Shrine

MADISON MEERON

I am no stranger to grief and loss. The past several years I have spent working to untangle myself from my grief only to realize that those who I have been forced to grieve are eternally intertwined with me. I tried to capture the feeling of this deep entanglement through the wire roots of my shrine. Images of people, places, and things I have had to grieve can be found all over my shrine. I painted bleach on top of the photographs to  distort them in an attempt to demonstrate the distortion caused by grief. I lost one of my childhood best friends last year and every day is an attempt to heal/ recover from this grief. She is rooted in my mind, eternally intertwined, A golden soprano, celestial song. A star who shot across the sky too fast. Maybe this way her voice will last.
